Kate joined Pure Physio in October and has quickly taken control of the front desk. She is the happy, smiling face that will greet you on arrival, and will most likely be the person you speak with over the phone. Kate enjoys meeting new people and will always make sure your visit is an easy and happy one. She is always ready to help and answer any questions you may have. Kate has spent time studying environmental science at Deakin University and completed a medical receptionist course prior to joining Pure Physio. Kate loves living in Melbourne and has always enjoyed being active, playing netball, running and swimming and through this knows the benefits of physiotherapy. After running the Melbourne half-marathon Kate is looking forward to experiencing more fun challenges during 2011.
Trent's passion for sport led him to complete his Diploma of Remedial Massage. He has since worked with, and treated, a wide range of people from office workers to professional athletes. Trent utilises a number of techniques during his sessions including deep tissue, sports and remedial massage. He also provides stretches to complement the improvements gained during a massage session. In addition Trent is a qualified Sports Trainer and has worked with local football clubs and is continuing to work with the Melbourne Aces baseball team. Born in NSW, bred in QLD and now calling sunny Melbourne home Trent enjoys cycling, running, squash and golf (weather permitting).
Kate completed her physiotherapy degree in 2002 from La Trobe University. A keen participant in a range of sports, and with a few injuries as proof, Kate realised her passion for helping others get back to their previous level of activity, and feel good about it! Kate jumped straight into Sports and Spinal Private Practice after being offered a job following her sports placement at University. This opened the door to many fantastic opportunities, ranging from work with local level Aussie Rules, Rugby Union, Basketball teams, to Victorian Women’s Softball, and International level Wheelchair Basketball travelling with the Australian Team overseas. Kate made London home for 7 years, in which time she was lucky enough to be involved in two research projects; one for neck strengthening in Rugby players, and one on specific shoulder rehabilitation approaches. Kate has managed a private physiotherapy clinic in Harley Street, London, for the past two years, however has now decided to return home. Kate still enjoys running, tennis, hiking, and cycling in her spare time…and thinks she may never lose her love of travelling! Kate feels very strongly about educating every patient about their condition, and is highly motivated to helping you get better using nothing but pure, straight forward, physiotherapy.
Having grown up an active, sporty child, Andrew spent many hours being the patient at his local physio centre. The major upside was that it helped him choose his career. Andrew completed his Physiotherapy Degree in 1999 and began his career on the wards at Geelong Hospital. His passion for sport led him into private practice in 2004 and to complete a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 2005. Prior to establishing Pure Physio, Andrew managed a physio practice in London where his clients included Pat Cash, UK Boy band ‘Take That’, Mums and Dads and business professionals. Andrew is very much at home treating both sports and spinal injuries, using manipulation, mobilisation, muscle release techniques and dry needling to help you feel better and move better. As a patient, you can also expect to spend time in the rehab gym where Andrew will work with you to improve your muscle control and strength. These are the preventative measures that help keep you off the injury list! Running the Paris marathon in 2009 was a highlight for Andrew, although he's yet to sign up for another one!
